Mayville Squatter Camp: #1
As part of my ongoing campaign of photo stories, I’ve decided to show another side of South African life, mainly that of a informal settlements, a.k.a Squatter Camp. I grew up in SA during the Apartheid years and remember the constant media battering of the blacks and their squatter camps. We were told that they were places of filth and disease and that crime was rampant and to stay away from them. Thankfully that South Africa is dead and whilst we have a new government in place, people still live in Squatter Camps and this is my story of the real side of the informal settlements
I really would love comments on this story and its images, so please use the contact form and get in touch
