People of Durban: Edward

Edward collects scrap metal, left behind after the pile was shipped off from Durban harbor to feed China’s demand for steel.
He gets paid R1.50 (around 5c (US), per kilogram. Filling his bag usually gets him around R10 ($1.15) at the end of a long day.
Edward tries damn hard to live on the streets of Durban.
I have been around poverty before, but never at this level. This was a massive eye-opener for me and thanks to the amazing hospitality of people I interviewed, I will be starting another project after this about their struggle.
