Bow and Arrow

Zoom

13 October 2010

The Bushman makes use of the bow and arrow to hunt. It is made from a particular tree and is a lengthy process. All the materials are found in the bush. The young sapling is sourced and stripped of its bark. It is then heated in the fire and place at an angle using a tree and the ground. There is it left for a day to make the initial shape.

The art, often depicting scenes of life or history, is burned into the dry wood and can take up to a day to complete.
