Bow making

Zoom

4 November 2010

The bow that the Bushman use for hunting is made from animal tendons, usually taken from the legs and a tree from the bush. The tendons are soaked in a mixture of water and herbs and then split into thin threads. They are then combined and woven with multiple pieces until a short, thick, string is ready. They then twine multiple threads together and finally end up with the long string which is then dried before being fitted.
