Decline of culture

Zoom

19 November 2010

I was told a fantastic story during this trip, about the Bushman Internet (as i’ve aptly called it).
The Bushman used to learn about places, nature and life in general from their parents and grandparents. They would head out into the bush and collect information they felt useful and then return that night and relay the same information back to the kids around the fire. This tradition has been happening for thousands of years, until about 10 years ago.
Before, adventures of the day were told with music and community. Now kids learn about places like america via CD’s. Their world is more about gold, bling and ‘capping his ass’ rather than hunting, finding water and surviving.
Somethings I think technology is great, but in some instances it really can be the decline of culture for some communities.
How many kids today go outside and socialise? It’s too easy to sit behind the screen and tweet/facebook.
Anyway….
