Carrying the potjie

Passed these two on my way to Sodwana Bay and noticed them struggling to get the potjie (pot) across the road.

turns out, it was there turn to do the 5 kilometer walk to wash it out and bring it back full of water in readiness for the evening meal.

No grumbling, no moaning, just getting on with the task at hand. Sometimes African kids have the right approach, pity European ones often don’t.

Out of all the people we met in Hluhluwe, these kids blew us away. Their job was to roll this water drum 5km’s down the road to the communal tap, and then roll it back, full!
